Rude Kid
Rude Kid is a prominent British producer, DJ, and radio host, renowned for his influential contributions to the grime scene. Emerging from East London, he has become a central figure in shaping the sound and visibility of grime music both in the UK and internationally.
Growing up in Ilford, Rude Kid was deeply influenced by the burgeoning grime scene. He would often record pirate radio sets from pioneers like N.A.S.T.Y Crew, Wiley, and Dizzee Rascal, using cassette tapes to replay and study the tracks. Inspired by the raw energy and innovative sounds of these artists, he began producing his own beats, drawing from the eclectic influences of groups like Ruff Sqwad.
Known for tracks like “Jack Daniels”, “Alien”, and “Are You Ready?”, Rude Kid became a go-to producer for artists like Wiley, Skepta, Ghetts, Tinchy Stryder, and JME, helping to shape the sound of modern grime. His beats are instantly recognisable—layered, intense, and always forward-thinking.
In 2024, Rude Kid and long-time collaborator Ghetts announced their most ambitious joint venture yet: a full collaborative album titled ‘Forbidden Frequencies’. While the two have worked together on singles and the acclaimed 653 EP, this marks their first full-length project together. The album takes an unconventional route—Forbidden Frequencies was released exclusively on a custom-designed hardware player, available only at a series of intimate shows.
Beyond his work in the studio, Rude Kid has also made waves as a DJ, with stints on Rinse FM, BBC Radio 1Xtra and his own show on KISS FM. Consistently championing grime, bass, and UK underground culture.
